Monee, IL – A series of small fires intentionally set inside a local Amazon facility led to the arrest of an 18-year-old employee Monday night in Will County.

According to the Monee Fire Protection District, fire crews responded around 8:30 p.m. to three separate fires reported at the Amazon building. The fires, which were discovered in bathrooms on different floors, were quickly extinguished upon arrival. Authorities evacuated the facility and began a joint investigation with the State Fire Marshal and Monee Police Department detectives.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified a male employee seen near all three fire locations. As the scene was being processed, images of the suspect were shared with officers monitoring the crowd in the parking lot. Around 11 p.m., officers located the suspect and took him into custody.

Elijah P. Fields-Facko, 18, was later charged with attempted arson. Officials confirmed all three fires were intentionally set, though no injuries were reported, and damage was minimal due to the swift fire response.

Authorities have not released additional details about potential motives or the suspect’s employment history. The investigation remains ongoing.
