Knox County, IL – A 75-year-old Gilson man died Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 150 East, authorities said.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around 3:54 p.m. in the 1600 block of the highway. Investigators said a southbound orange Kubota side-by-side, driven by the Gilson man, allegedly crossed the road into the path of an eastbound silver 2013 Chrysler sedan, resulting in a crash.
The driver of the Kubota was pronounced dead at the scene. The Chrysler’s driver, a 24-year-old Galesburg man, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No passengers were in either vehicle.
Authorities said the names of those involved are being withheld until family members are notified. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation, with assistance from Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service, Knoxville Fire/First Responders, Williamsfield Fire, Oak Run First Responders, Illinois State Police and the Knox County Coroner.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
