Chicago, IL – A California-to-Illinois cannabis trafficking operation was uncovered this week after an arrest at O’Hare International Airport led investigators to more than 25 pounds of suspected cannabis, according to the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (KAMEG).

Authorities say James T. Tsirikos, 26, of Saint Anne, was taken into custody around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday after arriving on a flight from California. Agents reportedly found about 5,200 grams (11.5 pounds) of suspected cannabis in his possession at the airport.

The arrest prompted a series of search warrants across Kankakee County, where officers located an additional 11,500 grams (approximately 25 pounds) of suspected cannabis tied to the investigation. Corey Q. Felton, 27, of Bourbonnais, was also arrested and charged with intent to deliver more than 500 grams of cannabis.

Officials say the bust concludes a months-long investigation into suspected cannabis trafficking between California and Illinois. KAMEG was assisted by local and state law enforcement agencies, and the case remains under review by the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office.
