Joliet, IL – A tragic domestic-related shooting left two adults dead and four children unharmed early Monday morning in Joliet, according to police.
Joliet Police reported that officers were called to the 1800 block of Burshire Court at 5:49 a.m. on September 29 after multiple 911 calls about possible gunfire. Officers discovered a 40-year-old man outside with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Inside the residence, a 40-year-old woman was also found dead from a gunshot wound.
According to investigators, the shooting is believed to be domestic-related. Police allege the man fatally shot his wife before taking his own life with the handgun, which was recovered at the scene. Four juveniles, ages 3 to 16, were inside the home at the time but were not harmed. They were placed in protected custody before being released to another family member.
The Kendall County Coroner’s Office confirmed the deaths at the scene. Detectives conducted a neighborhood canvas Monday morning to gather additional information as the investigation remains active.
