Kankakee, IL – Kankakee Community College is celebrating a rise in enrollment this fall, marking its third consecutive year of student growth. The school reported a 7.2% increase in headcount and a 5.5% boost in credit hours for the Fall 2025 semester compared to last year.

According to KCC President Dr. Michael Boyd, the trend highlights the community’s confidence in the college as an affordable and high-quality option for higher education. “We’re proud to see more students choosing us as the place to start or continue their education,” Boyd said.

KCC officials said enrollment has increased every term since 2022, with growth coming from both full-time and part-time students across a range of academic and career programs. Lesley Cooper, vice president for Institutional Effectiveness, attributed the gains to expanded program offerings, tuition support for degrees and certificates that lead to family-sustaining careers, stronger student support systems, and coordinated outreach.

Beyond enrollment growth, the college emphasized its continued focus on student success through tutoring, transfer agreements, and career pathway initiatives. “We’re committed to providing opportunities for every student,” Boyd said, noting the goal of helping students achieve degrees, certificates, or successful transfers to four-year institutions.

Registration for the Spring 2026 semester opens Oct. 13. More information is available at www.kcc.edu or by calling 815-802-8100.
