Kankakee, IL – Families across Kankakee County are invited to the annual Comfort & Joy Market this Sunday, December 14, as the Kankakee Area YMCA hosts a large holiday market and community donation event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside its gymnasium.

According to the Kankakee Area YMCA, the free event will bring together more than 30 local vendors, craft makers, food trucks, face painting, raffles, and a Grinch-themed meet-and-greet. A major portion of the day centers on a food and toy drive supporting the Momence Food Pantry, with several ways for visitors to contribute.

Raffle tickets can be earned through donations, organizers said. Attendees receive two tickets for every five non-perishable food items donated, and two tickets for every new, unwrapped toy donated. Tickets may also be purchased directly for $1 each or six for $5, with all proceeds going to the Momence Food Pantry.

Food trucks will be set up in the parking lot throughout the afternoon, while the vendor fair offers handmade goods, curated gifts, and holiday items from local small businesses. The YMCA will also host a table where visitors can help assemble “Meal in a Bag” kits for families in need this season.

The event—organized in partnership with Kimberly’s Garden Harvest and the Momence Farmers Market—aims to blend holiday fun with meaningful community support as local organizations prepare for increased demand during the winter months.

Residents are encouraged to stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Kankakee Area YMCA, 1075 N. Kennedy Dr. Parking and admission are free.
