Lisle, IL – The Village of Lisle is inviting residents to give their old holiday lights a second life through its annual Holiday Lights Recycling Program, running November 3, 2025, through January 30, 2026.
According to the Village, residents can bring burnt-out or unwanted string lights to the designated drop-off site at Lisle Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Accepted items include mini-lights, C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights, and extension cords. Other decorations such as pre-lit trees, garlands, and light-up figures are not accepted. A full list of guidelines is available through the Village’s website.
The collection is conducted in partnership with Elgin Recycling, which will ensure the materials are properly processed and kept out of landfills. Village officials say the effort helps reduce environmental waste while encouraging residents to make sustainable choices during the holiday season.
“This is a simple way to help the planet while cleaning up after the holidays,” officials noted in the announcement.
Residents are encouraged to recycle responsibly and spread the word to neighbors as Lisle continues promoting environmentally friendly initiatives through the winter.
