CHICAGO – Illinois is on track to surpass its 2023 cannabis sales totals, having already reached $1 billion in retail sales by July 1, 2024. This includes over $850 million in adult-use cannabis sales and nearly $150 million in medical cannabis sales.
Governor JB Pritzker highlighted that the state achieved this milestone almost two weeks earlier than in 2023. Total cannabis sales for Fiscal Year 2024 have already exceeded $2 billion, up from $1.9 billion in Fiscal Year 2023.
According to the Cannabis Regulation Oversight Office, Illinois residents made 81% of the purchases, with cannabis flower accounting for 49% of sales. Tax revenues have generated over $244 million for R3 Grants supporting economic development and violence prevention.
