Champaign, IL – Rain and possible thunderstorms are on the way for Central Illinois, with wet conditions expected Thursday and Friday. A strong weather system will bring widespread rain beginning Thursday afternoon, with isolated storms possible into the evening.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain above normal, with highs in the mid-40s Thursday and upper 40s Friday. Rainfall totals could reach a quarter to half an inch, with localized heavier amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Dry weather will return by the weekend, with partly sunny skies Saturday and a high of 43°F. Sunday will be slightly warmer, reaching 52°F, before another potential system moves in early next week.
Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads Thursday and Friday, particularly during morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could also impact high-profile vehicles.
