Palos Park, IL – Palos Park residents are being targeted by a new scam involving fraudulent letters from a supposed Canadian law firm. These letters claim the recipient has an unclaimed Canadian insurance policy worth millions of dollars. However, this is a scam, and the Palos Park Police Department (PPPD) is urging residents to be vigilant.
According to the PPPD, a local senior was shocked to receive a letter congratulating her on an alleged unclaimed insurance policy worth $8.9 million. The letter proposed a “partnership” in which 10 percent of the money would go to charity and the recipient, with the sender taking the rest. Authorities warn that consenting to this partnership would result in significant financial loss.
Scam letters offering windfalls from distant relatives have been filling mailboxes in the area recently. The PPPD emphasizes that no such unclaimed policies exist and advises residents to ignore these letters.
