Davenport, Iowa – Smoke from Canadian wildfires will continue to blanket eastern Iowa and western Illinois through Monday, bringing hazy skies and rising temperatures across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, evening showers are possible Saturday night in southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri, and west-central Illinois. Overnight lows will dip to the upper 40s and 50s, with light and variable winds. A northeast front will help keep parts of northwest Illinois slightly cooler into Sunday.

On Sunday, expect dry conditions with highs in the low to mid-80s under persistent smoke and haze. By Monday, temperatures could climb as high as 90°F in areas like Galesburg, Burlington, and Moline. Haze is expected to linger, and air quality could remain an issue for sensitive groups.

Residents are advised to limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially older adults, children, and those with respiratory conditions. Keep windows closed and consider using air purifiers indoors.

Smoke impacts are expected to ease gradually after Monday, but additional advisories may be issued if conditions persist.
