Pocatello, ID – A late-season winter storm is sweeping through eastern and central Idaho, bringing heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Tuesday for multiple mountain regions, including the Frank Church Wilderness, Bear River Range, and the Sun Valley Region. Snow totals are expected to reach between 2 to 5 inches below 7,000 feet and up to 14 inches in higher elevations above 7,500 feet.

Communities such as Island Park, Ketchum, Stanley, and Victor should prepare for slippery road conditions and potential travel delays. Mountain passes, including Emigration Summit and routes near Copper Basin and Dubois, could become treacherous during the Monday and Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and check Idaho 511 for up-to-date road conditions. Snowfall rates could vary quickly, making visibility and traction unpredictable, especially in high-elevation zones.

This system marks one of the more impactful late-March snow events for the region, and local officials encourage residents and travelers to plan accordingly and monitor changing weather throughout the advisory period.
