Pocatello, ID – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of southern and eastern Idaho from 11 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Sunday, with snowfall and strong winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pocatello, areas including Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Rexburg, and Blackfoot could see 1 to 4 inches of snow, while higher elevations near Craters of the Moon National Monument may receive up to 6 inches. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, leading to blowing and drifting snow.
In the Albion Mountains, Raft River Region, and Franklin County, lower elevations may receive 2 to 6 inches, while mountain areas could see up to 24 inches. Winds up to 40 mph will add to visibility issues.
The Lost River Range, including Borah Peak, will see 5 to 10 inches of snow above 8,000 feet, with gusts up to 45 mph. The Eastern Magic Valley, including Burley, Oakley, and Rupert, can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow and 35 mph wind gusts.
