BOISE, Idaho — Light flurries and patchy morning fog stretch across the Treasure Valley today, marking the first hints of a December transition that will bring brief rain–snow showers before calmer, milder weather midweek.
The National Weather Service in Boise reports a 20 to 30 percent chance of mixed precipitation through the late morning, shifting to scattered rain showers by afternoon as temperatures climb into the low 40s°F. Drivers should use caution on Interstate 84 and Highway 55, where wet pavement and freezing spots may create slick travel conditions through the early evening commute.
By late evening, skies begin to clear but fog is likely to return—especially in low-lying areas near Nampa, Meridian, and the Boise foothills. The pattern settles briefly midweek, offering sunshine and seasonal chill before the next Pacific system arrives later in the week.
“Residents should be ready for changing conditions through the week,” forecasters said Tuesday morning. “Light snow early today gives way to fog, and rain chances build again by Friday.”
Temperatures will hover around normal for early December, but early morning freezing will remain a hazard. Wet surfaces could refreeze overnight, producing black ice Wednesday morning.
Five-Day Local Outlook:
- Today: Chance of rain–snow mix, high near 42°F.
- Wednesday: Areas of fog early, then sunny, high 41°F.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, high 42°F.
- Friday: Rain likely, high 47°F.
- Saturday: Morning rain, high 51°F.
