Moscow, Idaho – Wet snow continues to fall across the Palouse overnight, with up to 3 inches expected before 11 a.m. Tuesday, creating slick roads for the morning drive.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Tuesday for the Idaho Palouse, including Moscow, Potlatch, Genesee and Plummer. An additional 1 to 3 inches of wet snow will accumulate, especially on grassy surfaces and untreated pavement.

Highways 95 and 8, along with rural county roads, may turn slushy or snow-covered before sunrise. The heavier, moisture-rich snow can compact quickly under traffic, increasing the risk of slide-offs on hills and curves common across the rolling terrain. Side streets and elevated surfaces may become slick in short order.

Drivers should reduce speed, leave extra stopping distance and check Idaho 511 for updated road conditions before heading out. Snowfall will taper late Tuesday morning, but lingering slush and wet patches could refreeze if temperatures dip later in the day.
