Grangeville, Idaho – Drivers across north central Idaho have just hours to prepare before snow begins falling by 10 p.m., with slick roads likely to slow the Wednesday morning commute across Camas Prairie and Greer Grade.

According to the National Weather Service in Missoula, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday for the Orofino and Grangeville region. Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of snow, enough to create minor but widespread travel disruptions overnight and into early Wednesday.

The advisory covers Grangeville and surrounding communities, including Camas Prairie and the steep stretches of Greer Grade. Snow accumulation on higher elevations and exposed roadways could reduce traction, especially before sunrise when road temperatures remain coldest. Idaho Transportation Department crews may treat primary highways, but secondary roads and rural routes could remain snow-covered during peak travel hours.

Residents planning early travel should allow extra time, reduce speeds, and increase following distance. Checking 511 Idaho for real-time road updates is strongly encouraged before heading out.

Snow is expected to taper off by 10 a.m. Wednesday, but slick conditions may linger into the late morning. Additional advisories could be issued if snowfall rates increase overnight.
