Pocatello, ID – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Bear River Range, where significant snowfall is expected through Monday morning. Travelers in the area are urged to prepare for hazardous conditions as snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches are forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory began early Sunday morning and will continue until 5 a.m. Monday. Snowfall is anticipated to intensify Sunday evening, creating slippery roads and reduced visibility. Key areas impacted include Emigration Summit and surrounding roadways, where drivers should anticipate treacherous travel conditions.
Residents and visitors should avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in higher elevations. If driving is essential, officials recommend reducing speed, using snow tires or chains, and allowing extra time to reach destinations. For real-time updates on road conditions, dial 511 or visit the Idaho Department of Transportation website.
The extended forecast shows lingering snow into Monday morning, with additional light accumulation possible. Afterward, conditions will improve, with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 36 degrees Monday afternoon. Temperatures will drop Monday night to a low of 18 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will bring sunshine with a high near 31 degrees, followed by mostly clear conditions through midweek. Overnight lows will remain frigid, dipping to the low teens. By Thursday, partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20s are expected, though another chance of snow arrives Friday night.
