Pocatello, ID – A significant winter storm is set to impact Idaho, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds through Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories and a Winter Storm Warning, urging residents to prepare for hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas including Shoshone, Lava Beds, and Marsh and Arbon Highlands, with 3 to 8 inches of snow expected in higher elevations. The advisory remains in place until 5 AM MST Sunday.

Meanwhile, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Sawtooth/Stanley Basin, Sun Valley Region, and Big Lost Highlands, where up to 40 inches of snow could accumulate in higher elevations by 5 AM Tuesday. Gusty winds up to 40 mph will further complicate travel, with blowing and drifting snow reducing visibility.
