Sun Valley, ID – A powerful winter storm is set to hit central Idaho starting early Wednesday. The National Weather Service warns of heavy snowfall and dangerous travel conditions.

The storm will impact areas including the Sawtooth/Stanley Basin, Sun Valley Region, and the Big Lost Highlands. Snowfall above 8,000 feet could reach one to two feet, while strong winds may cause drifting and blowing snow. The Winter Storm Warning begins at 5 a.m. Wednesday and lasts through 5 a.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, travel in these areas could become nearly impossible. Hazardous conditions are expected to affect morning and evening commutes throughout the storm. Officials urge travelers to carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and a flashlight.
