Boise, Idaho –A wet weekend is taking shape across southwest Idaho, with rain and possible thunderstorms expected in Boise and surrounding areas starting Friday afternoon and lasting through early Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Boise, there’s a 70% chance of showers and possible thunder by late Saturday, with storm chances beginning as early as Friday evening. Rainfall amounts may vary, with some areas seeing up to a quarter inch—especially under thunderstorms.
Conditions will begin to shift Friday as clouds build and winds pick up out of the northwest. Boise will see a high near 66°F before storms move in. Saturday is expected to be the wettest day, with new precipitation expected between a tenth and quarter inch across Ada County. Rural roads and parts of I-84 could become slick during downpours, especially Saturday night.
Nampa, Meridian, and Caldwell should also prepare for evening rain and cooler temps. Temperatures will dip into the 40s at night, with daytime highs in the 60s. Lightning is possible with Saturday’s storms, so residents are urged to stay indoors during peak activity and avoid outdoor plans.
Skies will begin to clear by Sunday afternoon, with dry and warmer weather returning by Monday. Additional advisories could be issued if storm intensity increases.
