Kellogg, ID – The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Winter Weather Advisory followed by a Winter Storm Watch for the Central Panhandle Mountains, warning of a prolonged snow event from Thursday through Saturday.

Snow will begin early Thursday morning and continue into Friday, bringing 1 to 3 inches in the valleys and 4 to 8 inches in the mountains by Friday morning. A stronger round of snow is expected to arrive Friday and persist into Saturday, with 5 to 13 inches possible above 3,000 feet — particularly near Lookout Pass, Mullan, and Dobson Pass.

Forecasters say snow may become heavy at times Friday into Saturday, leading to hazardous travel conditions along I-90 and surrounding mountain routes.

Drivers are urged to slow down, plan ahead, and check 511 for updated road conditions before traveling. Lower elevation areas like Kellogg and Pinehurst will see lighter totals but still face slick conditions.
