Pocatello, ID – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. MST Monday for parts of Idaho, including the Sawtooth/Stanley Basin, Sun Valley Region, and Big Hole Mountains, as heavy snow and strong winds impact the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, areas above 7,000 feet can expect between 6 to 12 inches of additional snowfall, with higher amounts possible near mountain passes. Lower elevations will see a mix of rain and snow, with accumulations ranging from up to 3 inches in Sawtooth to 3-7 inches in the Big Hole Mountains. Winds are forecasted to gust up to 40 mph at higher elevations, making travel hazardous, particularly over Galena Summit and Pine Creek Pass.
Drivers are urged to use caution and check 511.idaho.gov for updated road conditions. The storm may impact weekend travel and Monday morning commutes.
