Lookout Pass, ID – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of northern Idaho through 8 a.m. PST Tuesday, as snow continues to accumulate in the Central Panhandle Mountains, according to the National Weather Service in Spokane.
The advisory affects elevations above 3,500 feet, including Lookout Pass and Dobson Pass, where forecasters expect up to 5 inches of new snow by early Tuesday.
According to the weather service, slick and snow-covered roads are likely overnight, especially along mountain passes and shaded stretches of roadway. Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and use caution, particularly when traveling through high-elevation routes connecting Idaho and western Montana.
The snowfall is expected to taper off by mid-morning Tuesday, with improving conditions through the afternoon. However, icy patches may persist in colder valleys and shaded areas as temperatures hover near freezing.
Motorists can check updated road conditions by calling 511 or visiting the Idaho Transportation Department website before traveling.
