Pocatello, ID – The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended Winter Weather Advisories for much of central and eastern Idaho, with moderate to heavy mountain snow expected to continue through Monday afternoon, October 27.

Snowfall totals between 3 and 6 inches are expected in most areas, with up to 12 inches possible above 7,000 feet, particularly across the Bear River Range, Caribou Range, Big Hole Mountains, and Centennial Mountains near Island Park.

Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches are also forecast through midnight Sunday in the Sun Valley, Sawtooth, and Stanley Basin regions, including Ketchum, Galena, Clayton, and Stanley. Winds could gust up to 40 mph, creating blowing snow and reduced visibility on mountain passes.

According to the NWS, travel may be hazardous across portions of U.S. Highway 20, State Route 33, and mountain roads near Sun Valley and Island Park. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check 511.idaho.gov for real-time road updates.

Snow is expected to taper off by late Monday afternoon, but slick roads and freezing temperatures could persist into Tuesday morning.
