Boise, Idaho – Widespread rain is expected to return to southern Idaho by Saturday morning, with gusty winds and a chance of evening thunderstorms lingering through Sunday night, especially along the Snake Plain.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, light showers may begin late Thursday night into Friday in higher terrain, with more significant rain — and even some high-elevation snow — arriving this weekend. There’s a 20% chance of thunderstorms on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Winds will strengthen significantly by Sunday, with gusts reaching 30 to 45 mph across the Snake Plain, including cities like Twin Falls and Mountain Home. These gusts could lead to difficult driving conditions for high-profile vehicles and localized power interruptions. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind periods.

While the region will remain unsettled through the weekend, drier and warmer conditions are expected to return starting Monday. Additional weather updates and potential advisories may follow as the system evolves.
