Boise, Idaho – A strong cold front will sweep across Idaho starting Monday, bringing heavy rain and cooler temperatures to higher elevations, with McCall and Baker City expecting the worst conditions. Drivers along Highway 55 and I-84 should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility through Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation chances spike to 91% in Baker City and 79% in Burns by midday Monday. McCall faces a continued 80% chance of rain into Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by chilly highs near 51°F and overnight lows dropping to a frosty 31°F. Boise, while avoiding the heaviest rain, will see cooler temperatures with highs only reaching the upper 60s.

Travelers should avoid mountain passes if possible and keep emergency kits ready. With ground temperatures falling near freezing in higher elevations, isolated patches of black ice are possible by early Wednesday.

The storm system is expected to clear out gradually by Thursday, but lingering rain showers and cooler-than-average temperatures will persist. Stay tuned for further updates as additional advisories may be issued.
