BOISE, Idaho – A thick layer of fog hangs across the Treasure Valley this morning, blanketing highways, neighborhoods, and farmland in a dense, silvery haze. Drivers heading out early will find visibility reduced to less than a quarter mile across portions of Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, and Twin Falls, as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. MST, according to the National Weather Service in Boise.

The moisture-rich air has created near-freezing fog that can make roads slick and reduce visibility suddenly, especially along I-84 and Highway 20. Officials urge motorists to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra travel time for the morning commute. As temperatures hover near 36–39°F, fog droplets could briefly freeze on bridges or untreated surfaces, creating patchy black ice in shaded areas.

Conditions will gradually improve through late morning as sunlight breaks through the haze. By the afternoon, expect mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 50s — ideal for finishing outdoor chores or early Thanksgiving travel preparations before another round of fog redevelops tonight.

The weekend looks calm and seasonal, with sunny afternoons and highs in the low 50s continuing through Sunday. However, forecasters are watching for a cooler, unsettled pattern early next week that could bring rain or even snow chances by Tuesday and Wednesday, signaling a shift toward a more wintry Thanksgiving stretch across the Northwest.

For now, residents should brace for a slow, foggy start to the day — and the reminder that late November’s calm can be as tricky to navigate as any snowstorm.
