Boise, Idaho – Scorching temperatures will dominate southwestern Idaho starting Thursday, July 24, with Boise expected to hit 95°F under clear skies and light winds. The National Weather Service has issued a summer weather alert for the area as dry conditions and intensifying heat raise the risk of wildfires and heat-related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, calm morning winds will shift northwest around 6 mph by afternoon, offering little relief from the sun. With highs forecast near or above 95°F on Thursday and Friday, residents should avoid strenuous activity during peak hours and stay indoors when possible. Travelers along I-84 should monitor for potential fire activity and heat-related delays.

Friday brings a slight change as skies turn partly cloudy, but temperatures will remain high, reaching 95°F again. Saturday and Sunday continue the heat trend with mostly sunny skies and highs near 94°F. Overnight lows stay warm, hovering in the low to mid-60s — offering little overnight cooling.

By early next week, Boise could flirt with triple-digit highs, with Tuesday’s temperature expected to top 100°F. Residents should limit outdoor work, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

This stretch of intense heat shows no sign of breaking before late next week. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen. Stay alert and monitor official updates as the region remains under elevated fire and heat risk through Tuesday, July 29.
