Boise, ID – A strong cold front will sweep across eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho Sunday, bringing widespread rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow, according to the National Weather Service in Boise.

Forecasters expect the front to move from northwest to southeast between early Sunday morning and Sunday night. Rain chances exceed 90% across most of the Treasure Valley and central Idaho, with areas such as McCall, Cascade, and Stanley likely seeing steady precipitation through the day.

Winds will increase ahead of the front, with gusts of 35 to 45 mph expected Sunday afternoon. The strongest gusts are forecast across higher terrain and open valleys, potentially creating hazardous travel for high-profile vehicles.

As colder air arrives behind the front, snow levels will drop to around 5,500–6,500 feet by Sunday evening, allowing for light accumulations in mountain passes. Areas around Stanley and Yellow Pine could pick up up to an inch of snow.

By Monday morning, the system will push east, leaving behind cooler temperatures and lingering showers in the mountains. Daytime highs will settle in the 50s for lower valleys and 40s in the mountains.

Drivers are advised to plan for wet roads, reduced visibility, and breezy conditions throughout the day Sunday.
