Boise, Idaho – A broad Northwest and Northern Rockies rain pattern is set to intensify by Wednesday morning, bringing repeated rounds of rain and slower travel across Idaho through the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Idaho is in a high-confidence zone for above-average precipitation from Wednesday through Saturday, with totals expected to run 30 to 60 percent higher than normal. Temperatures are also trending above seasonal levels, bringing a mild and damp stretch across much of the state.

Boise, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls are expected to see multiple waves of rainfall, increasing the risk of standing water on major corridors including I-84 and I-15. In southern Idaho, including Nampa and Caldwell, heavier bursts could reduce visibility below one mile and create slick commute conditions. Northern areas such as Coeur d’Alene and Lewiston may see steadier rain at times, while eastern areas including Pocatello and Rexburg could experience localized flooding in low-lying locations.

Drivers should slow down on wet roads, avoid water-covered routes, and allow extra time for travel. Residents are encouraged to clear drainage areas and monitor small streams for rising water levels.

This active pattern is expected to continue through Saturday night, with additional advisories likely as rainfall totals and timing become more defined.
