Boise, ID – Clouds stretch thinly across the Treasure Valley this Friday morning, a calm before a wet and breezy change sweeps through Idaho this weekend. The day begins mild, with highs climbing near 70°F, but the warmth won’t last — cooler air and steady rain are on deck for Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, moisture increases late Friday with showers developing after dark. Winds from the southeast will strengthen into Saturday, gusting near 25 mph as a Pacific system moves inland. Showers become widespread Saturday afternoon, with rainfall between a tenth and a quarter inch possible in the valley — more in higher terrain.

By Sunday, conditions stay damp and breezy with highs dipping to the low 60s. Rain remains likely through the afternoon before tapering Sunday night into early Monday. The shift marks the region’s first sustained cool-down since early October, with lows slipping into the mid-30s by Tuesday morning.

The week ahead looks drier but brisk. Highs in the mid-50s will pair with crisp, chilly mornings — ideal for late yardwork or Halloween decorating as October winds down.

To be fair, no snow is expected in the Boise metro area just yet, but mountain communities may catch an early-season flake or two before Monday. Still, the message is clear: Idaho’s brief return to warmth is ending, and winter’s edge is starting to show on the horizon.
