Boise, Idaho – Boise residents face a dangerous heat spike Tuesday as temperatures surge to 102°F, kicking off a sweltering stretch of summer weather across southwest Idaho. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, especially between 1 and 6 p.m., when the heat will peak and urban heat buildup is expected along I-84 and throughout Ada County.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday marks the hottest day of the week, with calm winds doing little to ease the high pressure over the region. Clear skies and intense sun will dominate through Wednesday, with highs near 96°F and only a slight 20% chance of evening thunderstorms that are unlikely to bring meaningful cooling.

Temperatures in Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell will also flirt with or exceed 100°F. School summer programs, outdoor workers, and at-risk populations should take extra care. Emergency managers recommend staying indoors during peak hours, drinking plenty of water, and checking on elderly neighbors.

What’s Ahead
Relief is on the way by Thursday, with a modest drop to 88°F, but the heat builds again into the weekend. Friday and Saturday will remain sunny and hot with highs near 97°F and 99°F, respectively. Nighttime lows will offer little cooling, hovering in the low 60s.
