Boise, Idaho – A rapid warmup will take hold across Idaho by Friday afternoon, pushing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal and accelerating snowmelt across lower mountain elevations.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is a 70 to 80 percent probability of above-normal temperatures statewide through early next week. Southern and western Idaho, including Boise, Nampa, and Twin Falls, will see the most consistent warmth.

Boise is expected to climb into the low to mid-70s by Saturday, with afternoon highs peaking between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Treasure Valley will see dry and mild conditions, while eastern Idaho, including Idaho Falls and Pocatello, trends into the upper 60s, also above seasonal averages.

This warming trend connects Idaho to a broader western heat dome impacting Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. As temperatures rise, mid-elevation snowpack will begin to melt more rapidly, increasing flows in streams and rivers, particularly near the Sawtooth and Boise mountain ranges.

Residents should monitor changing water levels near rivers and creeks, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. The warming pattern is expected to persist through the weekend into early next week, with additional updates possible as conditions evolve.
