Twin Falls, Idaho – Overnight travelers south of Twin Falls could encounter sudden 55 mph wind gusts starting at 11 p.m., strong enough to push high-profile vehicles and scatter loose debris across rural roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. MST Tuesday for Southern Twin Falls County, including Rogerson and Hollister. Southwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph, with peak gusts up to 55 mph during the pre-dawn hours.

The strongest winds are expected along exposed stretches of Highway 93 and open terrain near the Nevada border. Brief crosswinds may make steering difficult for semis, RVs and other high-profile vehicles. Gusty conditions could also snap small tree limbs and trigger isolated power outages.

Residents are urged to secure trash bins, outdoor furniture and lightweight equipment before late evening. Drivers traveling overnight should keep both hands on the wheel and reduce speed in open areas.

Winds are expected to ease shortly after sunrise Tuesday, but additional advisories could be issued if gusts trend higher overnight.
