Boise County, ID – A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Caldwell was killed Sunday afternoon following a collision with an SUV on State Highway 55 south of Horseshoe Bend.

According to the Idaho State Police, the crash occurred around 3:31 p.m. Saturday on the northbound side of SH55. The rider of a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling northbound when he reportedly crossed the centerline and collided with a 2010 Honda Pilot headed south.

Authorities said a 45-year-old man from Idaho City was driving the Honda Pilot and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. A small brush fire broke out following the crash.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Pilot was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries, which were not described in detail.

Traffic in the area was significantly impacted as the roadway remained blocked for approximately three and a half hours to allow emergency responders to assist and investigate.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Horseshoe Bend Ambulance, Acute Rescue, and Boise County Sheriff’s Office.
