Boise, Idaho – Scattered thunderstorms and sizzling temperatures will hit Boise on Friday, August 1st, bringing fire weather concerns and a brief storm threat before a dry, hot weekend sets in.
According to the National Weather Service, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 12:00 a.m. MDT Friday due to gusty winds and low humidity. Highs will soar to 95°F Friday afternoon with a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms after noon. Winds could gust up to 25 mph, especially near the I-84 corridor, increasing the risk for new fire starts and reduced visibility from blowing dust.
Drivers should avoid dry brush areas, delay outdoor burning, and keep an eye out for rapidly changing road conditions, especially in the late afternoon. Storms are expected to taper off by Friday night, but isolated lightning and strong downdrafts remain possible.
The weekend will turn dry and hot, with Saturday and Sunday highs peaking around 92°F to 94°F, under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows will fall into the low 60s.
Looking ahead, the first full week of August will stick to the same pattern: sunny, dry, and warm. Monday through Wednesday brings daily highs in the low 90s with little rain in sight. Winds may pick up again Monday afternoon, raising more fire weather concerns.
Prepare now for extended heat and fire danger. Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor sparks, and continue checking updates as warnings may be extended into next week.
