Boise, ID – A high wind warning remains in effect for parts of southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon until 9 p.m. MDT (8 p.m. PDT) this evening, bringing powerful gusts and hazardous conditions to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, sustained southwest winds of 35 to 45 mph are expected, with widespread gusts reaching up to 60 mph. Higher terrain areas may experience gusts as strong as 70 mph, posing significant risks for travel and infrastructure.

The affected areas include the Southwest Highlands and Owyhee Mountains in Idaho, as well as Harney and Malheur counties in Oregon. Cities impacted include Silver City, Burns, Buchanan, Murphy Hot Springs, and Malheur City.

Motorists are advised to use caution and secure any loose outdoor objects that could become airborne.

The high wind warning is set to expire by 9 p.m. MDT, but residents should stay updated on any further advisories. For real-time updates and safety recommendations, visit the National Weather Service website or tune in to local emergency broadcasts.
