Boise, ID – A brisk start to Tuesday greeted Idaho residents as the National Weather Service’s frost advisory took hold across the Treasure Valley. Temperatures fell into the low 30s, putting outdoor plants and early pumpkins at risk of frost damage. Homeowners are urged to cover tender vegetation before dawn to avoid losses.
According to the National Weather Service in Boise, the advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. MDT Tuesday, covering Nampa, Caldwell, Boise, Ontario, Nyssa, and Twin Falls. Frost is not expected within Boise city limits, where lows should hover near 38 degrees. However, rural areas could see frost on roofs and windshields before sunrise.
By Thursday, October 9, Idahoans can expect a noticeable warm-up as sunny conditions return. Highs will climb into the upper 70s by midweek and flirt with 80 degrees by Thursday. Winds will remain light, offering ideal conditions for fall yard work, Halloween decorating, and pumpkin patch visits.
Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows continued sunshine through Friday with highs in the 70s to near 80. A 30% chance of light showers arrives Friday evening, followed by cooler nights heading into the weekend.
Residents planning early commutes along I-84 should remain alert for patchy frost on bridges and shaded areas through early Tuesday.
