Pittsburgh, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of southwest Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia, with snow and ice expected to create hazardous travel conditions through early Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, the advisory is in place from 10 a.m. Tuesday until 4 a.m. Wednesday. Forecasters expect total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches, along with a light glaze of ice, particularly in higher elevations.

Affected areas include Westmoreland and Fayette counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Preston, Tucker, and parts of Monongalia counties in West Virginia. Cities such as Ligonier, Ohiopyle, Kingwood, and Terra Alta are likely to experience slippery roads and reduced visibility.

The NWS warns that the Tuesday evening commute could be impacted as snow accumulates throughout the day, with freezing rain possible early Wednesday morning. A second winter system is expected to arrive Wednesday afternoon, bringing additional mixed precipitation and significant ice accumulation.

Drivers are advised to use caution, allow extra travel time, and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Residents can report snow and ice totals to the NWS by calling 412-262-1988 or using @NWSPittsburgh on social media.
