Atlanta, GA – Freezing temperatures and strong winds will create hazardous travel conditions across north Georgia through Friday morning, with some areas seeing wind chills near zero degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday, impacting Atlanta, Athens, and surrounding areas. Black ice is possible, especially on bridges and overpasses, making travel dangerous during the early morning hours.

Temperatures will rebound slightly Friday, reaching a high of 45°F under sunny skies. By Saturday, the high will climb to 52°F, with clear skies continuing into Sunday. Next week, Atlanta will see highs in the mid-60s, signaling a shift toward milder conditions.

Drivers should reduce speed and allow extra travel time Friday morning. Residents should also check on elderly neighbors and bring pets indoors. Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve.
