GREEN BAY, Wis. — A significant winter storm is set to blanket much of central and eastern Wisconsin with moderate to heavy snow beginning early Saturday morning and lasting through Sunday morning, bringing hazardous travel and possible whiteout conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for large portions of central and east-central Wisconsin from 9 a.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Sunday. Areas north of Wausau and Rhinelander will see 2 to 6 inches, while 6 to 9 inches of snow are forecast between Marshfield and Washington Island. Locally higher totals of 10 inches or more are expected along the lakeshore, including Oshkosh, Manitowoc, and Sturgeon Bay.

Forecasters warn that the heaviest snowfall and lowest visibility are expected between 3 p.m. Saturday and midnight, when rates may reach 1 inch per hour. Blowing snow could further reduce visibility, especially on open highways and rural routes.

Drivers are urged to adjust travel plans, monitor updated forecasts, and prepare for snow-covered roads and difficult driving conditions across much of the region.

Residents should keep emergency kits in vehicles, charge mobile devices, and limit non-essential travel during the peak of the storm.

Officials remind travelers to follow updates from @NWSGreenBay and 511WI.gov for real-time road and weather conditions.
