Aberdeen, SD – A winter weather advisory, along with an ice storm warning, has been issued for parts of eastern South Dakota, including Codington, Grant, and Deuel counties. The National Weather Service has warned of hazardous conditions through Wednesday, April 2, 2025, affecting travel and safety.
The first winter weather advisory remains in effect until 8 AM CDT this morning, with mixed precipitation, snow accumulations of up to one inch, and light ice accumulation. Winds are expected to gust as high as 35 mph, creating potentially slippery road conditions.
An ice storm warning takes effect at 8 AM CDT today and will last until 1 PM CDT, with significant icing expected. Snow accumulations may reach up to two inches, and ice accumulation could be as much as one-tenth of an inch.
A second winter weather advisory will go into effect at 1 PM CDT and remain in place until 7 PM CDT this evening. Snowfall of up to two inches is anticipated during this period.
The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, use caution, and be prepared for potential power outages. Travelers are encouraged to call 511 for the latest road conditions and should carry emergency supplies in case of unforeseen delays.
