Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan is under a Winter Weather Advisory this morning, with freezing rain and light snow creating hazardous travel conditions. The advisory affects counties including Mackinac, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and others.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Gaylord issued the advisory, stating that snow accumulation could reach up to one inch, with ice glazing roadways. Freezing drizzle is expected to persist until 1 p.m. in Mackinac County and until 10 a.m. in other areas. Ice accumulations could reach one-tenth of an inch in some locations, making roads particularly dangerous.

According to the NWS, residents should slow down and use caution while driving. Power outages are possible in affected areas due to ice buildup on power lines.

Drivers in counties such as Benzie, Wexford, and Roscommon are urged to plan for delays and difficult travel conditions. Residents should also prepare for icy sidewalks and driveways.

For updates, check local weather reports or visit the NWS website. Stay safe and limit non-essential travel during this advisory.
