Pennsylvania – A sharp February chill hangs over wet pavement this morning, and that lingering moisture could refreeze in shaded spots as temperatures hover near 32 to 34 degrees across Philadelphia.

At Philadelphia International Airport, the thermometer sits at 34 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The air feels crisp, and a light northwest breeze is beginning to pick up. Side streets, bridge decks, and ramps along I-95 and the Schuylkill Expressway deserve extra caution through midmorning.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will climb to around 41 degrees by afternoon. Northwest winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph, with gusts near 30 mph. That wind adds a biting edge and may push loose debris across roadways.

Flash freezing remains a concern this time of year. Melted snow can refreeze quickly when clouds linger and temperatures dip near freezing. Slow down on turns and allow extra braking distance, especially on untreated surfaces.

Skies clear tonight, and temperatures drop to around 27 degrees. Thursday stays partly sunny with a high near 36. Another colder night follows, with lows near 20 degrees before sunshine returns Friday and highs rebound to the mid-30s.

Valentine’s Weekend looks brighter. Saturday climbs to near 42 degrees with sunshine, and Sunday turns mostly cloudy with highs near 41. A chance of rain develops Sunday night into early Monday as temperatures hold above freezing.

Looking ahead six to 10 days, milder air spreads across much of the eastern U.S. Highs may push into the 40s and even upper 40s by early next week, hinting at a gradual thaw.
