Pennsylvania to Rhode Island – Travelers along the busy Interstate 95 corridor should prepare for slick roads and slower travel Sunday as another round of winter weather moves through the Northeast.

According to the National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly, Winter Weather Advisories are now in effect for Sunday as a storm system shifts slightly north and west, placing the highest snow totals directly along the I-95 corridor. Snow is expected to begin late Saturday night and continue through much of Sunday.

Forecast snowfall totals range from 1 to 3 inches in many areas, with locally higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible from Philadelphia through Trenton, northern New Jersey, New York City, and into southern New England. Areas farther inland may see slightly higher totals, while coastal locations could see lower accumulations.

The advisory impacts a wide stretch of the Northeast, including southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, southeastern New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, affecting major metro areas such as Philadelphia, Wilmington, Trenton, Newark, New York City, New Haven, and Providence.

Officials warn that snow-covered and slippery roads are likely, particularly during peak travel times on I-95 and connecting highways. Even modest snowfall amounts could lead to delays due to heavy traffic volume along the corridor.

The National Weather Service notes that conditions may change quickly, especially in heavier snow bands, and urges drivers to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time.

Road conditions can be checked through each state’s 511 travel information system before heading out.
