WAKEFIELD, Mass. – A refreshing stretch of classic New England fall weather is on the way — bright skies, cool breezes, and crisp mornings setting up an ideal weekend for outdoor plans. After a midweek mix of clouds and light winds, sunshine will take over across Essex and Middlesex Counties by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, dry air will dominate through the weekend, following a brief chance of showers late Thursday. Temperatures will stay seasonal, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and lows dipping into the 40s. Gusty northwest winds may reach 20 mph Thursday afternoon, especially along the I-95 corridor from Woburn to Peabody. Drivers should use caution with blowing leaves on local roads and expect cooler conditions for early commuters.

By Friday, skies clear completely, bringing classic October sunshine. This pattern continues through Saturday, making it perfect for fall festivals, foliage drives, and last-minute pumpkin patch trips before next week’s wetter trend. Residents can expect calm conditions and excellent visibility across Route 128 and U.S. 1, with little to no weather-related travel delays.

Looking ahead, clouds and rain chances increase late Sunday into Monday as a weak front moves in from the west. Until then, Massachusetts enjoys one of the most pleasant stretches of fall weather yet this season — cool, crisp, and made for leaf peeping.
