Baltimore drivers and shoreline residents will face high water early Thursday as tidal flooding peaks during morning rush hour. Streets near the Inner Harbor and low-lying areas of Southern Baltimore could see up to two feet of water.
According to the National Weather Service, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Friday. Flooding has already been reported along Thames Street and Bowleys Quarters, where water is encroaching on yards and sidewalks. Officials urge drivers to avoid barricaded areas and give themselves extra travel time on I-95 and surrounding roadways.
Tides at Fort McHenry are running up to two feet above normal, with the highest levels expected during the early morning and late afternoon highs. Residents are encouraged to protect flood-prone property, move vehicles from low-lying lots, and prepare for lingering water through Thursday evening.
Relief arrives Friday as calm, sunny conditions return. Highs will hover in the low to mid-70s through the weekend, making it an ideal stretch for outdoor activities, early Halloween decorating, or fall festivals across Maryland. By Saturday, skies will stay mostly clear with highs nearing 79 degrees in Baltimore and surrounding areas.
The calm pattern should hold through Monday, though showers may return by Tuesday night.
Warnings remain in effect through early Friday, with conditions improving into the weekend. Residents should stay alert to additional updates if tides rise higher than forecast.
