MINNESOTA – A crisp, golden sunrise breaks across the Twin Cities this Sunday morning, lighting up a thin veil of fog over the fields west of Minneapolis. The air feels cool but calm — a temporary peace before another windy pattern moves through early this week, bringing scattered showers, gusty winds, and a sharp taste of fall’s chill by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, temperatures will rise near 60°F today under full sun, but a stiff northwest breeze will make it feel cooler, with gusts pushing 30 mph through the afternoon. Winds ease late Sunday before shifting south again by sunrise Monday, helping draw in just enough moisture for scattered showers across the metro and into central Minnesota.

Monday afternoon’s highs will reach the upper 50s, with a few light showers possible east of I-94. By Tuesday, a more organized system swings through, bringing widespread cloud cover and gusts up to 35 mph. Rain chances peak Tuesday evening, then taper quickly as drier, colder air settles in overnight.

By Wednesday, high pressure takes control again, clearing skies but dropping highs to the lower 50s — and lows into the 30s. Early Thursday morning could flirt with the first frost potential of the season in outlying suburbs, especially north and west of the metro.

Looking ahead, the weekend turns calmer and seasonably cool, with highs near 58°F and sunshine returning — perfect for late-yard cleanup or early Halloween prep before Minnesota’s next cold snap edges closer.
