Wisconsin–Minnesota — Sunshine pours across the Mississippi River valley this morning, lighting up bluffs surrounding La Crosse as early spring warmth settles into the region.

Temperatures will climb to around 62°F today, creating a mild afternoon across western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota. Light winds shift during the day while skies remain mostly sunny.

Drivers along Interstate 90, US-53, and Highway 14 should enjoy smooth travel conditions this morning. Pavement remains dry and visibility is excellent across the river valley.

The quiet weather continues briefly Tuesday with highs near 53°F under mostly sunny skies. However, meteorologists are watching a developing Midwest system that begins shifting conditions late in the day.

Clouds increase Tuesday night as the next weather system approaches the Upper Mississippi River region. Rain showers may develop first, especially late in the evening.

As colder air slides south, precipitation may transition to a rain-snow mix by early Wednesday, March 11.

Snow showers become more likely through Wednesday morning and afternoon as temperatures settle near 40°F. Accumulations appear light for now, but wet snow could briefly coat grassy surfaces.

Drivers should remain cautious along I-90 bridges and elevated roadways, where temperatures can drop fastest. Slushy patches may develop if snow rates briefly increase.

Colder air settles in Wednesday night with temperatures falling into the mid-20s, creating the potential for refreezing on untreated surfaces.

Another disturbance arrives Thursday night, bringing additional chances for rain or snow across western Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota.
