Buffalo, N.Y. – Western and north-central New York are facing one more sweltering day before cooler conditions arrive midweek. Heat index values are expected to reach at least the low 90s across most of the region, with some lower lake plain areas between I-90 and Lake Ontario climbing briefly into the mid-90s.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, the hottest conditions are likely in Rochester, Geneva, and Fulton, where “feels-like” temperatures could reach 94°F to 95°F this afternoon. Lake Ontario’s lower elevations will see the strongest heat buildup, while higher terrain areas remain slightly cooler.

Cities including Buffalo, Lockport, and Batavia will see heat index readings around 91°F to 94°F. Farther south in Jamestown and Olean, conditions will be a bit milder but still uncomfortable, with highs pushing into the upper 80s to near 90°F. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Cooler, less humid air is expected to move in by Wednesday, offering relief after today’s heat. No advisories are currently in place for later in the week, but forecasters say another warm-up could develop by the weekend.
